Men of Action: J. W. Anderson Brings UNTAMED Feel to London

London Fashion Week is a major event on calendars throughout the fashion industry and we see many designers fighting for the spotlight.

This year, everyone has been talking about Irish designer J. W. Anderson, who’s new line in the UK’s Topshop went on sale to coincide with the event.

At just 28 years old, the Northern Irish designer has taken the fashion industry by storm:

‘Essentially – and refreshingly – what J. W. Anderson’s about doesn’t need to be freighted with ponderous intellectual cargo’ wrote Sarah Mower, the British Fashion Council’s ambassador for emerging talent.

‘He’s a designer who can nail an item – often many at once – that explodes with desirability, because its simple to wear, yet weird or quirky enough to feel well ahead of the ordinary’

Anderson’s designs have stood out on the shelf this week – not that they’ve been on the shelf for long. At 9am last Friday (14th), a hefty queue was stretching out of Topshop’s flagship store on Oxford Street in London, made up of fashion enthusiasts excited to see his new collection.

‘I think it’s been a huge support mechanism for designers like myself. People associate [Topshop] with that, they associate it with the up-and-coming as much as high street’

His designs have got people excited during a time when fashion has been at the forefront. They are inspiring and innovative, and of an UNTAMED nature.
